Remember way back on yesterday when I said that I might add something to your list of final projects? Well, somehow I forgot an important part of screen writing. I forgot the treatment.

Notes about filming, recording, and learning
Now that students are using cameras and microphones and creating their own work, I want students to read two articles.
1. If you create something and put it online, whose work is it?
2. If you are recording and videotaping in California, err on the side of caution. This is one reason that I have insisted that you only include your group in your videos. This is why I also want to see your story boards before you go out and shoot. You only shoot your story boards, unless you make minor adjustment.
A further note: When you are recording... you are recording. For your projects, I have required that your projects will be appropriate enough so that you do not embarrass yourself, your friends or your family. Remember that your family will see the script, see your video and hear you audio. You may change your behavior after seeing your script. Sometimes, that is how people learn.

The Big Project Begins!
Starting today, our multimedia and video production class will begin working on our final project. (O.K. so we still have to wrap up some of the old projects, but we are moving onward!)
By the end of the year, your groups will finish a
and maybe a few minor additions that I assign.
You will use a website to display your movie. You may look at the weebly site I created this morning. You will use something similar. Start investigating.
Before beginning the final project, you must complete the four short assignments and a project reflection.
By the end of the year, your groups will finish a
- "Feature Film" (4 minutes or less!)
- Website for the film
- Movie Poster
- DVD Cover
- Behind the scenes video
- Screen Play
- Story Boards
- Cast Photos
- Short IMDB type Description
- Trailer
and maybe a few minor additions that I assign.

Short Video and Short Audio Reflections
For your first two projects, write one reflection.
What did you do well?
What could you have done better?
What did you learn?
For each question, provide three answers. You can use bullet points or complete sentences.

Audio Posts
See this article about posting audio files. I tried Streampad for playing audio files. You may need to post your audio files away from home, becuase of the school filter.
You can also read this audacity team article describing the steps for saving, uploading, storing and importing.
Check out Zshare FAQ's too. The site might be blocked from your computer.

More about the 30 Second Video
Many groups have already finished editing their 30 second video. Remember, the final product should be exactly 30 seconds. Not 29 or 31.
When students have completed the video, I want each student to create a blog post and upload the video to their blog. On Friday, each student will write a reflection about their 30 second video. Until then, I want students to be able to showcase their work during the Open House.
I have also asked that students save their video in their student directory. I recommend that students create a folder titled "video." One more suggestion: send yourself an email with your video file attached using your gmail account.
Some day, you may wish to share your video and your blog. You might even wish to have a video blog.

Projects Due By Open House
1. Complete 30 Second Video Project. The Video will be stored in each student's directory in a folder called "video."
2. After the video is complete, each student will create a complete set of story boards for their 30 second video. (This is in addition to the story boards created before and during the video. These completed story boards will be used to analyze how the groups changed their shooting techinques.)
3. An audio project lasting between one and two minutes. Each student from the group must be recorded.
Students will use the new Yeti Blue Microphones. Please read the Manual if you have questions. Place the audio file in the student MMVP folder of each student.
4. A completed script for the audio project. Students may complete the script after the project. I recommend that students create an outline first and then complete the script afterwards.
Note: We may not complete both Trail Projects since the equipment arrived this late in the semester.

New Equipment
This post has been back dated. (I am posting on March 15; today we received the complete shipment.)
We have finally received equipment so that we can begin filming! We also have received microphones and new batteries for our other video camera. We also received some more memory for our Mac Towers so that we can upgrade to 5 Gigs.
We have six new Flip HD video cameras, so that each group can have access to a camera.
Check out our Blue Mics.
Soon, we will have new software on our Mac computers so that all the Macs will have Microsoft Office. While this seems late in the year, the students have developed many skills so that they can be successful working in groups. Students also know the technology to upload and share their work.
Stay tuned for some interesting projects!
